Hi! My name is Shanyn. I am a blogger from the state of Michigan. I graduated from college a few years ago with degrees in advertising and visual design and web media. I started this blog initially reviewing women’s literature (or “chick lit”), but a few months in moved almost exclusively to young adult literature. It was meant as a place for me to keep track of the books I’ve read, but has grown into a much more involved hobby!
I love reality television, especially Survivor, The Amazing Race, Big Brother, and The Apprentice. My favorite reality show of all time was The Mole, but they sadly only had a few seasons before canceling it
I also love giraffes, blankets, frisbee, and cereal. I am not good at watching movies, especially lengthy ones (this pains my husband Steve), but I really enjoyed The Dark Knight, Zoolander, and Fantastic Mr.Fox.
I have yet to visit Canada even though I’ve lived literally minutes away, but I have had unique opportunities to go on trips elsewhere. I have been to London, Paris, Jamaica, Hawaii, and the Dominican Republic, and feel very lucky to have had those opportunities. I also really enjoy seeing my favorite musicians in concert – Ben Folds, Augustana, The Spice Girls, Death Cab for Cutie, and Coldplay included! The Coldplay concert is where my husband proposed to me, on bended knee in our seats during the encore song of ‘Yellow’
If you got to this page wondering who Steve is, you’ve come to the right place – he is my husband
He is featured on the site occasionally and also reviews books from time to time. The reviews do feature some young adult literature, but he also loves adult science fiction and fantasy so those appear from time to time. I love that we both love to read and that he likes to post on the blog sometimes, so any time you see one of his posts you should comment so that he keeps coming back
He is also rather humorous in his reviews – if you are wondering what I mean, search for “Steve” in our search box and read a few of his posts!
I love reading, looking at books, visiting libraries, buying books for friends, going to book sales, organizing my books, finding used book shops… you name it! If you have a question I did not answer, are looking for a book recommendation, or would like to chat about anything else, please feel free to contact me via e-mail, Goodreads, or Twitter!
