My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
June 14, 2012 from Dial
Hardcover, 395 pages
ISBN: 9780803736993
“One thing my mother never knew, and would disapprove of most of all, was that I watched the Garretts. All the time.”
The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, numerous, messy, affectionate. And every day from her balcony perch, seventeen-year-old Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs her terrace and changes everything. As the two fall fiercely in love, Jase’s family makes Samantha one of their own. Then in an instant, the bottom drops out of her world and she is suddenly faced with an impossible decision. Which perfect family will save her? Or is it time she saved herself?
Usually I am pretty good at putting a book down when I need to do something else, but My Life Next Door was one I had no control with. I was reading for two minutes here, ten minutes there, any time possible so long as I was reading. One of my favorite contemps this year by far!

How have I not gotten around to this one yet? I love books with opposing social/political views, so hopefully it will be as unputdownable for me as it was for you.

I’m a little conflicted about My Life Next Door. I loved some parts of the story but others just didn’t work for me. Remembering back, I had issues with some of the characters I think. Good pick.
My friend was reading it on the bus and she said it was terrible ^^” I had, at this point, already downloaded the EPUP. format into my Mac but I’m still interested in reading it. She rated the book 2/5 if I remember correctly.
I’ve got this on my list to read when I get the chance some day. Of the few reviews I’ve read, they’ve all been pretty good and the book sounds like something I would enjoy. Thanks for sharing and glad to see you back! :)
