YA March Madness! #YAMM

It pleases me to announce that I will be hosting part of the YA March Madness bracket!
For those of you that don’t follow sports, March is often referred to as “March Madness” because college basketball teams play in a huge tournament that many people fill out brackets for, guessing who will win each game and make it to the end. This year myself, Pam, Erica, and Ginger will be hosting a similar tournament, but for YA books!
The original March Madness bracket is broken down into four sections by region, so we will have our four sections divided by genre. Fantasy, science fiction/dystopian, paranormal, and contemporary. As you may have guessed, I am in charge of the contemporary bracket :)
Each section of the bracket starts with sixteen “teams” (books). To get those books, each of us will be holding a nomination period. During that period you may nominate up to two books for each genre bracket that you want to enter the tournament. On March 5, the top 30 nominations of each genre will enter voting, where the top 16 will be officially entered into the YA March Madness tournament!
Books for the tournament must have been published in 2011, be YA, and fit the genre of the bracket you are nominating for. That means that here at Chick Loves Lit you must nominate CONTEMPORARY titles.
I have a list of 2011 YA contemporary books going over at Goodreads, so you can look there for ideas. Please make sure that you check the publication date before nominating – that list cannot be moderated and it is possible a non-2011 title could have been included.
My nominations for the YA contemporary bracket will be open until March 4 (Sunday) at 8 PM PST (12 AM EST)!
