1. Invent one holiday and tell us what it celebrates.
If I were to invent a holiday, it would have to be Lazy Day. This day would celebrate all the work we do throughout the year by giving us one day in which we do absolutely nothing. We sleep in, we lay around and watch TV or read a book. It would definitely have to be during the summer, so we can lounge around outside. August would be good, there are no holiday in August, and it would definitely have to be on a week day, so we get the day off work. A Monday preferably. I hate Mondays. So, aside from no work, there would be no cleaning, no going anywhere, ordering in so no cooking would need to be done. Oh, what I would give for one Lazy Day a year.

2. What is your favorite household chore?
Do I have to have a favorite? I pretty much hate them all, but if I had to choose one, I suppose it would be cleaning my room. I’m a bit of a slob I suppose, so when I do clean my room, I feel like I’ve accomplished something, and my room is nice and neat.

3. What exotic animal would you love to have as a pet?
Everyone who knows me knows I love monkeys. I think I’d like to have one of those capuchin monkeys because they are not only cute, but funny as well.

4. How many pieces of candy have you had in one sitting?
Wow, tough question. I’m not really a candy eater, and I suppose it would depend on what kind of candy. I mean, I couldn’t probably count the amount of M&M’s I’ve had in one sitting. I am a gummy fanatic and there’s this great candy store at the ocean that sells gummy butterflies. They’re pretty sizeable, but I bet I’ve eaten ten in one sitting.

5. What past job did you like the least?
I HATED selling shoes. I believe I was in my early twenties at the time. I won’t say what shoe store it was, but we were opening a new one, stocking, pricing for about two weeks. When they trained us to sell, they told us we should follow the customers around and after a few minutes, ask if they’d like to try anything on. First of all, the customers found our shadowing annoying. I had one customer ask, “Do you have to follow me around?” Um, yeah. Then the boss’s wife showed up for a day and basically told me I should be doing the opposite of what my manager had taught me. Needless to say, when I was laid off a couple weeks into it because they over hired, my feelings weren’t too hurt.

About Never Eighteen:
Austin Parker is on a journey to bring truth, beauty, and meaning to his life.

Austin Parker is never going to see his eighteenth birthday. At the rate he’s going, he probably won’t even see the end of the year. The doctors say his chances of surviving are slim to none even with treatment, so he’s decided it’s time to let go.

But before he goes, Austin wants to mend the broken fences in his life. So with the help of his best friend, Kaylee, Austin visits every person in his life who touched him in a special way. He journeys to places he’s loved and those he’s never seen. And what starts as a way to say goodbye turns into a personal journey that brings love, acceptance, and meaning to Austin’s life.

About Megan Bostic (from her website):
Her writing process she lovingly calls “organized chaos”. She writes on her laptop at the kitchen table next to the sliding glass door so she can absorb as much sun as she can. The “organized” part of the process mostly takes place in her head and involves the beginning and the end of her work in progress. The “chaos” part is pretty much how she sits down and writes with reckless abandon, not stopping to fix, revise, edit, or even breathe until she’s done.

When not writing, Megan is usually chauffeuring her teenage daughters and their friends, watching her girls play soccer, watching movies and TV shows on Netflix, hanging out with friends, spending time at the ocean, or walking the Narrows Bridge.

  1. What a fun interview, Megan and Shanyn! In my house, Lazy Day is celebrated every Monday. I call it Pajama Day. And as a gummy addict, I am SO grateful I live nowhere near your candy store. ^_^ Hope NEVER EIGHTEEN enjoys great success. I am eager to read it.
