1. What is your favorite season?
It’s a difficult toss-up between Spring and Fall, because I love all the amazing flowers that come out in the Spring, and getting to wear skirts and sandals after months of turtlenecks, but I think that the crisp weather, warm sweaters, cozy nights and blazing-blue-sky days of Autumn win out on this one.

2. If you could remodel any room in your house, which would you choose?
The room across the back of the house, which is sort of our sun room/dining room. Before we got our giant dining room table, this was a casual all-purpose room, but now it feels like it needs to be a little more formal. It needs new flooring, and a paint job, and some built-in bookcases, at least!

3. How many pieces of jewelry do you normally wear?
Seven or eight: earrings (just one in each), plus my watch and maybe a bracelet or two. (Two if sans watch.) On my left hand I always wear my wedding ring, my engagement ring, and a ring on my left thumb (from a friend). There’s also a ring on my right hand from a friend that I wear constantly. I also never take off a nickel on a chain, which my husband made and gave to me on our first Valentine’s Day together.

4. What is the last concert you went to?
The last concert I went to was to see Amon Tobin in Chicago. But because my husband plays music himself (and we have a lot of musician friends), I go to smaller music performances regularly too.

5. Tell us about a time you went to a birthday party.
What does it say about me that most of the birthday parties I can remember are my own? Friend-wise though one really stand-out party was in fourth grade for my friend Amy’s birthday. A bunch of us got dropped off at the movies (this had never happened to me before—I’d always gone with adults in tow) to see “Footloose.” We thought the movie was fantastic of course, and that we were all so cool. The rest of the party was a sleepover, and I think Amy had a cake with gourmet jellybeans on top, but that might’ve been a different birthday of hers. Either way, her birthdays were (and still are) memorable!

About Being Friends With Boys:
Charlotte and Oliver have been friends forever. She knows that he, Abe, and Trip consider her to be one of the guys, and she likes it that way. She likes being the friend who keeps them all together. Likes offering a girl’s perspective on their love lives. Likes being the behind-the-scenes wordsmith who writes all the lyrics for the boys’ band. Char has a house full of stepsisters and a past full of backstabbing (female) ex-best friends, so for her, being friends with boys is refreshingly drama-free…until it isn’t any more.
When a new boy enters the scene and makes Char feel like, well, a total girl…and two of her other friends have a falling out that may or may not be related to one of them deciding he possibly wants to be more than friends with Char…being friends with all these boys suddenly becomes a lot more complicated.

From TerraElan.com:
When I am not reading or writing, I like to do a lot of crafty things (especially with paper and photography) and cook or bake, preferably for friends. I am also currently Program Director of the Decatur Book Festival, and occasionally teach creative writing classes to young people at Little Shop of Stories. I also really like Fluevog shoes, Blythe dolls, watching movies, playing board games, and making up Mad Libs with my sisters. (Since we are too big for Wilderness Family, I guess.)

I only wear 2 sets of jewelries, watch and earrings! I am very much comfortable with it.

  3. Definitely adding this one to my goodreads list! I love books with boys–they just make more sense to me than the female protagonists sometimes! And I love the idea of a girl-multiple boy friendship dynamic.

And I’m totally snickering over #1 on that list. It’s almost December and I’m totally sitting here in sandals and a skirt. Though, living in Florida probably has something to do with that…. :)

    Smiles!
