1. What is your favorite office supply?
My bulletin board! I pin everything up. And then I forget to take things down. Like receipts. I wonder if I can still return that green dress I bought from Old Navy in 1998?

2. What sport do you most like to watch on television?
TMZ. It’s kind of a sport…
3. Describe your favorite t-shirt.
A t-shirt that author Leslie Margolis bought me for my thirtieth birthday. It’s super cozy and my go-to sleep shirt. It’s light grey. The Law & Order logo is featured prominently on the front. (I am obsessed with Law & Order. My favorite way to write is sitting on the couch with Law & Order playing in the background.)
4. If you could only have one thing for breakfast for the next year, what would it be?
A toasted Montreal bagel smothered in lox and cream cheese. With orange juice and coffee.
5. Tell us about a time you were very surprised.
I am often surprised. I am surprised by how often I am surprised. Just this morning I was surprised to find a Hershey’s Kiss in the bottom of my laptop bag. Surprised… and delighted.
About Ten Things We Did:
2 girls + 3 guys + 1 house – parents = 10 things April and her friends did that they (definitely, maybe, probably) shouldn’t have.
If given the opportunity, what sixteen-year-old wouldn’t jump at the chance to move in with a friend and live parent-free? Although maybe “opportunity” isn’t the right word, since April had to tell her dad a tiny little untruth to make it happen (see #1: “Lied to Our Parents”). But she and her housemate Vi are totally responsible and able to take care of themselves. How they ended up “Skipping School” (#3), “Throwing a Crazy Party” (#8), “Buying a Hot Tub” (#4), and, um, “Harboring a Fugitive” (#7) at all is kind of a mystery to them.
In this hilarious and bittersweet tale, Sarah Mlynowski mines the heart and mind of a girl on her own for the first time. To get through the year, April will have to juggle a love triangle, learn to do her own laundry, and accept that her carefully constructed world just might be falling apart . . . one thing-she-shouldn’t-have-done at a time.

I’d be delighted to find a Hershey’s kiss in my bag too. And also surprised that I hadn’t already eaten it.
