Fun Five: Sara Zarr

Fun Five
Sara Zarr
1. What is your favorite household chore?
Doing the dishes. We don’t have a dishwasher, so there’s this whole ritual of filling the dishtub in the sink, putting on the gloves, setting up the

drainer. I find it so satisfying to move things from the left side of the counter (“dirty”) into the drainer, all clean and steamy. It’s a good time to think, or listen to the radio, or come up with new book ideas.
2. Where is the last place you went on an airplane?
At the time of writing this: New Orleans! I’d never been, and got to go for a conference. Despite the extreme heat and humidity, I enjoyed my visit quite a bit.
3. How many toppings do you order on pizza?
To me, the perfect number of pizza toppings is three. You get variety, without anything getting overpowered or lost in the shuffle.
4. What time do you generally eat breakfast?
I’m a morning person, and always wake up hungry and ready for eggs. It’s very rare that I won’t have eaten by eight. Usually by seven.
5. Describe your favorite pair of shoes.
My ecco sneakers. They’re brown leather with sort of green stripes, and I’ve had them so long that they’ve totally formed to my weird and difficult feet. I love them so much that I found a backup pair when I realized the style was discontinued, and I’m going to have to make those last until I die.
About How to Save a Life:
Jill MacSweeney just wants everything to go back to normal. But ever since her dad died, she’s been isolating herself from her boyfriend, her best friends–everyone who wants to support her. You can’t lose one family member and simply replace him with a new one, and when her mom decides to adopt a baby, that’s exactly what it feels like she’s trying to do. And that’s decidedly not normal. With her world crumbling around her, can Jill come to embrace a new member of the family?
Mandy Kalinowski knows what it’s like to grow up unwanted–to be raised by a mother who never intended to have a child. So when Mandy becomes pregnant, she knows she wants a better life for her baby. But can giving up a child be as easy as it seems? And will she ever be able to find someone to care for her, too?

Boy I am behind on a few of your posts!
This book sounds real good!
But – Isn’t “favorite” and “household chore” an oxymoron?
UGH, this is the 3rd time trying to comment – stupid internet!

Wow, people exist who enjoy doing the dishes? Color me shocked. LOL, I’m more of a vacuuming/laundry girl myself.

I haven’t read anything by Sara yet, but I have a few on my WL! I also enjoy the dishes more then anything else, it’s just one of those things that doesn’t require thinking so you can completely zone out.

I hate doing the dishes! I don’t have a dishwasher either. But as long as it helps her with book ideas, bring it on!

Yowza, I can’t even imagine not having a dishwasher. Though I will say that I do find cleaning the kitchen after a meal somewhat relaxing.

I can relate to difficult feet and need of backup shoes. :) When you find a pair that fits you want to wear them forever. Oh, and I’ve read so many good things about “How to Save a Life”. Sometimes I wish I lived in the US… Guess I’ll just have to buy it myself!

Ha! I think dishes are my least favorite chore right now because my husband hardly does them, which leaves me. Always. We don’t have a dishwasher here either, and I’m used to having a dishwasher!
Thanks for the giveaway!
