Interview: Elizabeth Scott
I am ecstatic to be able to introduce Elizabeth Scott as my first Just Contemporary author. She is widely considered a contemporary YA staple, and Stealing Heaven is one of my favorite contemps.
Elizabeth was kind enough to answer interview questions AND donate copies of Between Here and Forever for you to win! Make sure you head to Ashley’s blog to see what she has to say about Elizabeth Scott :)
Elizabeth Scott
1. You’re widely known for your contemporary novels, but have written a few books outside of this genre. Do you have plans to write any other non contemporary novels?
I actually think Grace can be read as a contemporary novel, but it also works as a historical one, and as a dystopian one, which is what most people classify it as. (I confess, I always find that sort of funny, because the country Grace lives in is based, in part, on a country from right now with a dictator who died shortly before the book came out)
As I Wake is definitely not a contemporary novel, although most of it takes place in the here and now.
I guess you could say I like to mix it up, LOL! I don’t know what future books will bring, but I do know that my next book, Miracle, is a contemporary (And yes, there is a guy :-)
2. If you could collaborate on a book with another author, who would you choose and why?
I don’t know if I could co-write a book with someone. I have a hard enough time on my own that they’d probably throw up their hands in frustration and go off and write a book by themselves!
3. Where is the coolest place you’ve been able to go on tour? Is there anywhere you’d love to that you haven’t been yet?
I’ve never actually been on tour, but I’d sure love to! (Keep your fingers crossed that one day it happens for me–I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed :-)
More about Between Here and Forever:
Abby accepted that she can’t measure up to her beautiful, magnetic sister Tess a long time ago, and knows exactly what she is: Second best. Invisible.
Until the accident.
Now Tess is in a coma, and Abby’s life is on hold. It may have been hard living with Tess, but it’s nothing compared to living without her.
She’s got a plan to bring Tess back though, involving the gorgeous and mysterious Eli, but then Abby learns something about Tess, something that was always there, but that she’d never seen.
Abby is about to find out that truth isn’t always what you think it is, and that life holds more than she ever thought it could…

From ElizabethWrites.com:
“I write young adult novels, and frankly, don’t ever see myself writing anything else. I read a lot, and I love all kinds of books, but young adult books hold a very special place in my heart. Being a teenager is both the most amazing and the most frightening thing — there’s so much going on with you, your friends, your parents, and handling that and school and having to think about your future… it can be really exciting, but it’s also a lot to deal with!”

Awesome interview, I haven’t read too many Elizabeth Scott books but I did read Between Here and Forever and enjoyed it, am looking forward to reading more.
I’ve only ever read ONE Elizabeth Scott novel, and came close to reading As I Wake but had to return it before I could. She sounds like a nice person and an excellent writer from what I’ve read, so I’ll have to give more of her books a go.

Awesome event. As much as I love vamps and werewolves and witches (oh my!), it’s nice to sink into a solid contemporary every so often. And this one looks pretty awesome. I’m definitely curious what it is that Eli can do to bring Tess out of her coma. Guess I’ll have to read to find out, eh?
Smiles!

oh i did not know her next book is going to be called ‘miracle’ i can’t wait for it :) scott is one of my absolute fave authors.
Interesting comments about Grace. I read it as a dystopian but can now totally see it as a more contemporary. I think the setting (which is so stark and different from my own surroundings) lended itself very well to that dystopian vibe.

I love contemp YA! :) But… I should’ve scrolled to the “terms and conditions” before entering. Please ignore my entry, cuz I’m in Canada not the US. Sorry!
I’m so sorry that this giveaway wasn’t for Canada! The Sara Bennett Wealer giveaway allows for Canadian entries I believe :)
Thank you so much for sharing this. I love Elizabeth Scott. I really need to work on finishing her book list. I’ve only read two so far. And thanks for the giveaway!
The interview was fun to read!
