Book Summary from Goodreads.com:
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic’s wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic’s highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country’s most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.
From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths – until the day June’s brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family’s survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias’s death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.
Steve Review:
Dang, I liked this book! Fresh, creative, and fun Legend has jumped towards the top of my tbr series piles. If only more books in this series were out ….
Wait, what? Shanyn got this ARC for me and THIS book doesn’t even come out until the end of November? Sad. Worth a pre-order though I’d say, I might even pick up a finished copy myself! I really don’t have any overt criticism for Legend, I enjoyed Day and June, the plot was great, and while the romance wasn’t jaw dropping, it wasn’t stale.
Good start to a series Ms. Lu, looking forward to the rest, even if I have to wait a bit
Points Scale:
Cover: 4/5 – Sharp looking. Steve likes.
Title: 4/5 – Eh, good enough!
Plot: 8/10 – Good but not extraSUPERordinary.
Characters: 8/10 – Touch predictable, but enjoyable.
Writing: 7/10 – A lot of detail, background, and build up. Pretty typical for a 1st book in a series. But still good!
Ending: 9/10 – Next, please.
Total: 40/50 – A quick fun ride. Hopefully leading to more swift satisfying books (no, I didn’t just thesaurus those 2 words from the first sentence, scoff) in this series that I am absolutely looking forward to.

Doesn’t sound horrible, LOL. That’s the best I can do.

Are you doing the RAT with Shanyn?
If you are, I will tell her to make you nachos!
Hahahaha I laughed about that for 10 min.!

The plotline sounds a bit predictable to me, but that doesn’t necessarily mean bad. If the characters and dialogue are good and the pacing spot-on, even the most tried and true plots can feel fresh.
I’ll be keeping my eye out for more about this series. Thanks for the heads up!
Smiles!

@Wendy – Unfortunately I have to work that Saturday. But still, nacho’s could be eaten at work!!
@Lori – I agree it sounds a bit old hat, but it felt fresh reading it. I hope you enjoy it if you do check it out!
