Parallel by Claudia Lefeve
1. What is your favorite movie candy?
Kit-Kats, but I have to have popcorn too. I absolutely love chocolate covered popcorn, so whenever I go to the movies I eat them both together. But if you plan on trying this the next time you go to the theatre, be forewarned, not all theaters carry Kit-Kats (so I bring my own)!

2. Where is the last place you took a vacation?
My last real vacation was in Las Vegas. My little sister turned 30 and we celebrated in Vegas with the whole family. A little fun fact: Etta, my main character in Parallel, shares the same birthday as my sister, May 25th.

3. How many different types of cereal do you have in your cupboards?
Zero. I don’t wake up early in the morning to enjoy breakfast, but I do have my favorites: Cocoa Krispies, Lucky Charms, and Fruity Pebbles.

4. Tell us about a fun trip you took this summer.
The hubby and I love to camp, so this summer we spent a week camping in the Outer Banks, N.C. We have a pop-up trailer, so we usually stay at this great campground just steps away from the the beach!

5. What movie star would you love to have dinner with?
Really? I can only choose one? Well, if I had to spend an entire dinner with a movie star, it would be John Cusack. The man is brilliant and I have a feeling he’d be a great conversationalist, not to mention a total blast.

More about Parallel:
Destiny has a way of catching up.

Saddled with powers she doesn’t understand, Etta Fleming’s world is turned upside-down the day she meets Cooper Everett, the man who transports her to an alternate reality. A reality she was meant to be a part of.

One minute, she’s an orphan living at Dominion House for Girls, an institution for delinquent foster kids, then finds herself attending the exclusive Dominion Hall Academy.

Plucked from the only world she’s ever known, Etta now has to deal with an aunt she never knew, a boyfriend she doesn’t know, and a best friend who can’t know.

More about Claudia Lefeve:
Claudia Lefeve was born and raised in the Gulf Coast border town of Brownsville, Texas; a curious place where folks see curanderas in lieu of shrinks, tortillas are served at every meal, and even gringos speak Spanish. PARALLEL, the first book in The Travelers series, is her debut YA speculative novel. She currently resides in Northern Virginia with her husband and two pugs. Website Twitter Blog

Claudia is cute, she kinda reminds me of Leann Rimes.

The house cover appeals to me more than the face cover. Based on the book summary alone, I dismissed this as simply another paranormal or supernatural entry in the saturated YA market. What actually got me interested in this book was finding out that it’s the start of the Travelers series and that Amazon has it categorized under Explore the World.

I’m curious how Claudia pronounces her surname. She doesn’t have an audio file at http://www.teachingbooks.net/pronunciations.cgi

  5. Thank you for hosting me today! I had so much fun answering your questions :)

@Wendy – LOL I assure you, I look nothing like Leann Rimes in person! But I’ll take it as a compliment!

    @Jeff – M&M’s are my back-up if I don’t have Kit-Kat’s!

@Justine – It kinda is a paranormal story in an already saturated YA market. The only difference (I think) is that instead of vampires and werewolves, we have alternate dimentions, time travel, and fringe science. Oh and my last name is pronounced Le-FAVE :)
