Book Summary:
She’s writing about him. he’s writing about her. And everybody is reading between the lines..

For Erin Blackwell, majoring in creative writing at the New York City college of her dreams is more than a chance to fulfill her ambitions–it’s her ticket away from the tragic memories that shadow her family’s racehorse farm in Kentucky. But when she refuses to major in business and take over the farm herself someday, her grandmother gives Erin’s college tuition and promised inheritance to their maddeningly handsome stable boy, Hunter Allen. Now Erin has to win an internship and work late nights at a coffee shop to make her own dreams a reality. She should despise Hunter . . . so why does he sneak into her thoughts as the hero of her latest writing assignment?

Then, on the day she’s sharing that assignment with her class, Hunter walks in. He’s joining her class. And after he reads about himself in her story, her private fantasies about him must be painfully clear. She only hopes to persuade him not to reveal her secret to everyone else. But Hunter devises his own creative revenge, writing sexy stories that drive the whole class wild with curiosity and fill Erin’s heart with longing. Now she’s not just imagining what might have been. She’s writing a whole new ending for her romance with Hunter . . . except this story could come true.

Review:
Love Story by Jennifer Echols was one of my most anticipated releases because I absolutely love her books. I’ve read them all, and was ready for another, so being able to read Love Story made me very happy.

The plot for this one is set at a college rather than a high school, which is different from her other books – and made me a little extra excited. There aren’t many books about the first year of college, and I really enjoy reading about that time period in someone’s life.

The beginning of the book starts with a story written by our main character, Erin. This confused me a little, because I did not totally realize what was going on. Soon it all started to make sense, as we transport back to Erin and find out she is taking a creative writing class. A character in the story we’ve read ends up showing up in the class, and Erin worries that everyone will figure out her story is about him.

This is the only reason I gave this book four out of five stars – I could not understand why it was such a big deal for the professor to find out that she had based her story on a real person. I understand embarrassment, but she was worried about losing an internship if her professor found out, and throughout the entire book I never understood why. Perhaps someone could enlighten me.

Both Erin and Hunter use the creative writing class to communicate with each other via the stories they write, which was a fun twist. We get to read a few stories from each, and this helps us to learn more about both Erin and Hunter.

There were also several small twists in Love Story that kept me guessing (literally until the end). Sometimes contemporary YA can be predictable, but Jennifer Echols did an excellent job of keeping it fresh.

Love Story is another must read for fans of Jennifer Echols. It is an excellent contemporary, and I expected nothing less!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  3. Maybe she wanted the professor to think that she didn’t write from real-life but instead made everything up, which seems weird because great writers can take things from their real life and make it work wonderfully or else she was embarrassed and didn’t want him to know that much about her…I don’t know, I didn’t really like this.

    • Yeah I mean I would have gone with the “supposed to be all made up” but she kept writing real stories so I wasn’t sure :\

  6. Not sure this one hooks me. It kinda sounds like more happens in the stories Erin and Hunter write to each other than in the “present.” And, as much as intriguing characters are important, I like to have a strong plot to test them. So, I think this one’s gonna be a pass for me for now.

    Smiles!
