Book Summary:
HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO?

All Meg has ever wanted is to get away. Away from high school. Away from her backwater town. Away from her parents who seem determined to keep her imprisoned in their dead-end lives. But one crazy evening involving a dare and forbidden railroad tracks, she goes way too far…and almost doesn’t make it back.

John made a choice to stay. To enforce the rules. To serve and protect. He has nothing but contempt for what he sees as childish rebellion, and he wants to teach Meg a lesson she won’t soon forget. But Meg pushes him to the limit by questioning everything he learned at the police academy. And when he pushes back, demanding to know why she won’t be tied down, they will drive each other to the edge — and over….

Review:
Choosing to read Going Too Far for this last readathon was a hard one because it is my last Jennifer Echols book (until Love Story comes out this summer, at least). This was probably my least favorite of all the ones I’ve read, but that does not mean I didn’t enjoy it – I just really loved some of her other books :)

The main character of this book, Meg, really annoyed me, and that was my main problem. She had a major attitude problem, and it reminded me of someone I knew, so it hit a chord with me that made it hard for me to like her. Officer After, on the other hand, was very easy to like (even if he was kind of distant as a police officer for awhile), so they balanced each other out.

I was interested by the plot the whole way through until the very end – I wasn’t much a fan of how everything tied up so quickly in the end (I don’t believe that the people in question would have changed that much that fast), but the journey there was certainly enjoyable.

If I had to recommend a Jennifer Echols book, I would go with Major Crush (if you’re looking for a romantic comedy) or Forget You (if you want a more serious read). While all of her books have been great, there are just some that I like more than others (as is the case with most all authors), and Going Too Far wasn’t able to beat the few I mentioned above.

    • It’s a lot of people’s favorites, so maybe I had too high of expectations! I still thought it was good though :) I can’t wait to read Love Story!

Hahaha Agreed Anna. I’m surprised because I think this is probably her best work to date. I haven’t read the endless summer series though. Shame you didn’t love it as much :)

    • I think Going Too Far is probably at the top of most people’s lists! I wouldn’t not recommend it of course… maybe the cop thing just doesn’t flow well with me :)

  3. UGH, it stinks that you felt like the main character hit too close to home. That is the worst thing to experience in a book. Gladly, you have other Echols books that you do enjoy.
