Book Summary:
Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer–they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.
Review:
The buzz about the Summer trilogy is almost overwhelming – many, many readers fall in love with Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah in The Summer I Turned Pretty and love the remaining parts of the trilogy.
It’s hard having high expectations for a book, and I did have some because of the buzz. This turned out to be okay because I fell in love with Belly like everyone else did. Conrad and Jeremiah I was still deciding on, but The Summer I Turned Pretty is a great start to a series.
The key character in Summer #1 to me is Susannah, the mother of Conrad and Jeremiah. She’s the reason they return to the beach each summer, and her personality fills the book.
The Summer I Turned Pretty is a contemporary novel about the summer, yes – but you shouldn’t write it off because of that. Jenny Han is an excellent writer, and her characters will turn into people you wish you knew in real life. Belly’s starting to grow up in Summer #1, and it can only get better from here.

Ha! I’m not sure which one I would personally ‘like’ – probably Jeremiah as well
Too much hype usually puts me off a book or a movie before I’ve even experienced it for myself, but I am so glad that I went ahead and read this one! These characters are so real.
I’m glad others are fighting over Jeremiah – that leaves Conrad all to myself
