Review:
The only verse book I had read prior to I Heart You, You Haunt Me were by Ellen Hopkins, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The Hopkins books are quite serious, very dark topics – and while I knew this book had a more serious topic (I mean, ghosts aren’t something to mess around with), I knew it wouldn’t be like Crank or Glass or Identical.
I actually was very surprised at how well the story flowed, even though it was written in verse. Sometimes you expect stories to be broken up due to the verse, but that was not the case with Lisa Schroeder’s book.
Ava and Jackson have a very intense relationship, even though they are not able to touch each other – and this is not something easy to portray. As the book progressed and I was able to read more about their interactions, I actually got a little weirded out and pained at what Ava was going through.
Emotionally strong and very well written, I Heart You, You Haunt Me is an excellent verse novel that separates itself from many books on the shelves.

Might have to get this one from the library, maybe for the read-a-thon coming up April 9th.
It would be a PERFECT read-a-thon book! The verse will get you turning pages quickly and feeling more accomplished

I loved this book, it was my first try of Verse Novels and she is my favourite so far.
I did enjoy the story of Crank but didn’t appreciate it in verse form.
Ellen Hopkins has a unique way of using the verse, that’s for sure – if you get a chance you should try one of the others
I hear such great things about Schroeder’s books but I have too difficult a time getting into the verse format. It’s a real hurdle for me. Glad it worked for you!
