Book Summary:
Sixteen-year-old Katla has just moved from Los Angeles to the sticks of Minnesota. As if it weren’t enough that her trendy fashion sense draws stares, she learns to her horror that she’s a member of an ancient order of women who decide to whom certain babies will be born. Add to that Wade, the arrogant football star whom Katla regrettably fooled around with, and Jack, a gorgeous farm boy who initially seems to hate her. Soon Katla is having freaky dreams about a crying infant and learns that, as children, she and Jack shared a near-fatal, possibly mystical experience. Can Katla survive this major life makeover and find a dress for the homecoming dance?

Review:
I had certain expectations going into Stork because of the summary and title that caused me to like the book less than I would have if I had had no idea what the book was about. Which is unfortunate, but the truth.

I expected a lot more having to do with the “stork” part of our main character – and while it is a prominent part of the plot, I was slightly disappointed with the execution. I envisioned this part of Katla’s life taking over all of her decisions, but it really just dealt with one example.

My favorite part of this book was the relationship between Katla and Jack, and how it changed and evolved. The relationships Katla formed throughout were also enjoyable to read about, especially after they came together in the end – I was pleasantly surprised by some of the clever ways the author tied events together.

Overall, Stork was a good read but not as much as I was anticipating. I would recommend skimming the summary of the book, adding it to your wishlist if it sounds appealing, and not reading the summary again so that you have a clear mind while you read!

Too bad you didn't like it more. It does sound kind of weird… but when I first heard about it I thought it sounded absolutely amazing. So not sure what happened to my brain there :)
