Fun Five: Author Carol Snow

Welcome Carol Snow, author of Just Like Me, Only Better (new adult novel) and Snap (young adult novel) to the Fun Five!
We’re in for a special treat today – Carol has included pictures with her answers!

1. What is your favorite holiday?
Groundhog Day! Okay, not really, but how cool would that be? Halloween is my favorite; nothing else even comes close. Sure, I spend my days making up stuff about people who don’t exist (and get paid for it – what a racket). On Halloween, I get to actually be someone else! A few years ago, my husband and I dressed as Britney Spears and Kevin Federline (in their prime – not after she shaved her head and he gained fifty pounds). Researching poor, paparazzi-hounded Britney helped spark the idea for JUST LIKE ME, ONLY BETTER.

2. If you could only have one candy bar for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
If I had to choose just one, I’d go with Three Musketeers. But honestly? I am more of a cookie gal, with a pronounced weakness for Thin Mints. Last week I was nearing the end of my stash when I scored another box from a bunch of Daisy Scouts outside a grocery store. Now I’m down to my final half sleeve (hidden in the freezer where my kids won’t find it) and kicking myself for not buying more.

3. Describe what’s on your kitchen table.
An old aqua ceramic bowl that I found at a flea market, filled with tangerines. Also, crumbs.

4. What one meal do you cook the most often?

Dinner. I cook (or at least “heat”) 5-6 times a week. I love to turn on music, pour a glass of wine, and unwind from the day. I have a husband and two very busy kids, and dinner is our time to reconnect.

5. Tell us the name of your first pet.
Midnight. He was a black cat. I’m kind of disappointed in my family’s lack of imagination in naming him, but he gave us fifteen good years (and lots of small rodents).

More about Carol’s book, Just Like Me, Only Better:
Ever since her husband left her for an older woman, Veronica’s been an emotional mess. Only her five-year-old son, Ben, stands between her and a complete breakdown. She can’t even go to the grocery without bursting into tears. It doesn’t help that she keeps getting mistaken for Haley Rush, the Hollywood starlet whose dazzling life is plastered on every magazine at the checkout line.

A birthday lunch at the Ivy brings Veronica to the attention of Haley’s manager. In no time at all, he offers her a role as a celebrity double for Haley, who is in the midst of a meltdown and needs to be kept away from the paparazzi—just not so far away that people stop talking about her.

It only takes a moment for the shock to pass before Veronica says yes. Soon, she’s juggling child care, play dates and alternate weekends with her ex to be on call for her secret life driving Haley’s car, wearing her amazing clothes, and dating her hot B-list actor boyfriend, Brady Ellis. Too bad the job is only part time, and at the end of the day she has to return to Orange County and life as a minivan-driving substitute teacher and Cub Scout mom.

Carol has been successful in both the adult and young adult literature world – make sure you check out her website!
