When the principal announces that every senior must participate in a mandatory year-long Marriage Education program, Fiona Sheehan believes that her life can’t get any worse. Then she marries her “husband”: Jerky jock Todd, whose cheerleader girlfriend, Amanda, has had it in for Fiona since day one of second grade. Even worse? Amanda is paired with Fiona’s long-term crush, Gabe. At least Fiona is doing better than her best friend, Marcie, who is paired up with the very quiet, very mysterious Johnny Mercer. Pranks, fights, misunderstandings, and reconciliations ensue in an almost Shakespearean comedy of errors about mistaken first impressions, convoluted coupling, and hidden crushes.

This book is exactly the kind of plot I love to read about (I have no idea why). The high schoolers in this novel are forced into a marriage program in order to graduate, and as you can imagine individuals are matched with some less than desirable schoolmates.

I read this book in about a day because I never wanted to put it down. I loved the relationships that were forced together because of the marriage project, and each of the characters learned and progressed throughout the book (which does not necessarily always happen with a plot similar to this).

By the end I was feeling satisfied, though I really would have liked to read more about each of the characters. I began to like them and actually care about their decisions and relationships – I doubt the author has any plans to write a sequel, but I would be sure to grab it if there ever was one!
