People often ask me what I like about being a writer. I always give them a true and honest answer and I tell them about all those wonderful things I like about writer’s life. But there is one thing that exceeds all the others. I’m in love. I’m deeply in love with books. I’m deeply in love with the writing process, with putting my thoughts down on paper, with creating sentences, paragraphs and chapters.
Each time I start writing, I feel like a different person. I shut the word out. I switch off the worries in my head, I forget about people and things that surround me. As a writer, I reinvent myself with
each and every chapter and character. I genuinely feel what I write. I become the person I write about. I find myself at the place I write about. I feel the situation I describe and the emotions are sometimes very strong. I feel anger, sadness, frustration, happiness, disappointment, hope. I feel everything that my character feels. I become the character of my book.
This happens not only when I write fiction, I go through similar experience when I write non-fiction, self-help books, and even some articles in which I advise women on relationship and love issues. When I write, I find myself in the very same situation. I can feel the pain of a woman who struggles, who doesn’t love herself enough, who finds herself in an abusive relationship or cries after a bad break up. I put myself in her place, I identify with her, I emphatize with her. I become her, I get to know her inside out and thanks to this I’m able to advise her and help her. I can honestly say what I would do if I was her because I’ve become her.
I write with passion. I write with honesty. I put my heart into my books. I live my books. I feel my books. I’m a part of them. I’m a writer in love and I would never ever want to be anything else.
